Three Suspects Re-Arrested In Holloway Case

There has been a huge development in the Natalee Holloway case…

Three young men previously detained as suspects in the 2005 disappearance of American teenager Natalee Holloway have been re-arrested in the case, the Aruban public prosecutor’s office said Wednesday.

Holloway disappeared on May 30, 2005, hours before she was scheduled to fly home to Alabama after a high school graduation trip to this Dutch Caribbean resort island. The 18-year-old was last seen in public leaving a bar with the three young men who now are again suspects in her disappearance.

Dutch teenager Joran van der Sloot and two Surinamese brothers, Satish and Deepak Kalpoe, were arrested on suspicion of involvement in manslaughter and causing seriously bodily harm that caused the death of the American teenager, the prosecutor’s office said in a statement.

It’s not like we all didn’t have a strong idea that they were involved with her disappearance. I just wonder what new incriminating evidence was found to make the Aruban authorities take this action.

It took a lot to get them to look at them in the first place, let alone make the initial arrests. Let’s hope the case moves forward and the mystery about what happened to Natalee is finally answered.

Did Natalee Holloway Overdose?

Natalee Holloway still hasn’t been found, but we have more “heresay” to add to the case.

Natalee Holloway died from cardiac arrest caused by an accidental drug overdose, a source has told The O’Reilly Factor.

“The Factor has learned from sources we have to protect that Natalee Holloway, the 18-year-old Alabama woman who disappeared two years ago in Aruba, died from cardiac arrest brought on by an overdose of cocaine,” Bill O’Reilly said on his Thursday program.

The theory offered by the source, a top law enforcement official, could not be confirmed independently because Holloway’s body has not been found.

So, will this prove to be the truth, or is this just another attempt to sandbag the investigation into her disappearance?

And why would O’Reilly think it was news, unless the source was quite credible, or had some evidence to support the theory?

Travel Restrictions Lifted

A court ruled Wednesday that three suspects in the disappearance of a U.S. teenager can remain free without conditions - overturning an earlier decision that restricted their travel.

The appeals court ruled there was a “lack of sufficient grounds and serious suspicions” to keep the restrictions on Joran van der Sloot and two Surinamese brothers, Deepak and Satish Kalpoe, the Aruban prosecutor’s office said.

The three young men remain suspects in the May 30 disappearance of Alabama teenager Natalee Holloway, the prosecutor’s office said in a statement.

Prosecutors filed an appeal seeking to have all three returned to jail, but the court rejected the request and removed the restrictions, said David Kock, a lawyer for 18-year-old Satish Kalpoe.

“They are totally free,” Kock said.

Vinda de Sousa, a lawyer for the Holloway family, expressed disappointment with the ruling.

“Of course, it’s not what we were hoping for, but I’m convinced that this is not the end of the investigation,” de Sousa said.

The Aruban prosecutor’s office did not comment beyond the brief statement.

How much you wanna bet, in a couple of months, new evidence surfaces and we are left wondering, “Where in the world is Joran van der Sloot?”

It’s A Shame

An 18-year-old Dutch man who had been held by police on the Caribbean island of Aruba in connection with the disappearance of an American tourist arrived in the Netherlands on Tuesday.

Joran van der Sloot (search) and his father arrived at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport (search), ignored questions from reporters, and quickly departed. The 18-year-old was to attend college in Holland, his mother said.

Van der Sloot, a resident of Aruba, and two Surinamese brothers who were suspects in the disappearance of American teenager Natalee Holloway (search) were released on condition they remain available to police.

Holloway was last seen May 30, on the last day of her high school graduation trip to the Dutch Caribbean island, leaving a bar with van der Sloot and the two brothers, Satish and Deepak Kalpoe.

The three were arrested June 9 on suspicion of involvement in Holloway’s disappearance. All denied any connection to the disappearance. Van der Sloot acknowledged spending the evening before with Holloway, but denied any wrongdoing.

The release of all three suspects on Saturday was a serious setback to the prosecution. Police insist the investigation into Holloway’s widely publicized disappearance will continue, but legal observers in Aruba say the release indicates the government has no case.

It’s a shame that local law enforcement bungled the first critical hours of the investigation.

Beth Holloway Twitty Flies Home

The mother of Natalee Holloway is leaving Aruba, saying she’s “exhausted” all her avenues.

Beth Holloway Twitty made the announcement a day after all three suspects in her daughter’s disappearance were released on Saturday.

But Holloway Twitty says she will visit Aruba frequently, and will “never allow” her daughter’s voice to be silenced. She’s been an almost permanent fixture on the island, trying to keep attention on the case.

Hopefully, soon, the truth will come out. Beth Holloway Twitty deserves it. The entire Holloway and Twitty families deserve it. But most of all, Natalee deserves it.

Kalpoe Brothers Arrested… Again.

Satish and Deepak Kalpoe, the two Surinamese brothers previously detained in the Natalee Holloway case, have been re-arrested on charges of rape and murder in the Natalee Holloway case, Aruban government officials said Friday. A third person was also detained.

Prosecutor’s office spokeswoman Mariaine Croes (search) told FOX News that the third person was a man known as “Freddy” or “F.A.”, said to be a friend of Joran van der Sloot (search), who has been held in the case since June 9.

It was unclear if the third arrest was related to the Holloway case.

The Kalpoe brothers were arrested after authorities uncovered “new facts and circumstances,” in the investigation of Holloway’s disappearance, the prosecutor’s office said in a statement.

They were detained on suspicion of involvement, with unidentified “other people,” in premeditated murder and rape, the prosecutor’s office said.

It sounds like there may be some big developments in the Natalee Holloway case. It sounds to me like someone talked.

Aruban PM: Mistakes Were Made

Aruba’s prime minister believes that authorities made mistakes at the start of the investigation of the Natalee Holloway case, a government spokesman said Monday.

Beth Holloway Twitty, who has often criticized authorities on the Dutch Caribbean island since her daughter disappeared on May 30, met in private with Prime Minister Nelson Oduber over the weekend.

“I think that he’s in absolute agreement that the initial investigation has been so badly botched,” Holloway Twitty said on NBC’s “Today” show.

She said the prime minister also told her that Aruba needs to review the first stages of the investigation to find out “who let this go wrong.”

Oduber told reporters over the weekend that during the meeting he assured the Alabama woman that investigators would not stop looking for answers about the fate of her 18-year-old daughter.

Government spokesman Ruben Trapenberg said Monday the prime minister had expressed concerns about the initial investigation, though he used more cautious language.

“The prime minister agreed that in the beginning the case could have been better handled,” Trapenberg said. “He didn’t say it had been ‘botched.’”

Was this case bungled? Were the detectives clumsy? Did they botch the investigation? Nah… It was none of that. Mistakes were made.

Did Depak Kill Natalee?

An Aruban newspaper has published what it says is a signed police interview with the key suspect in the disappearance of Clinton-native Natalee Holloway.

The local Spanish language newspaper published the interview, in which it claims Joran van der Sloot says Depak Kalpoe raped, killed, and buried Holloway. Kalpoe is one of two brothers who were initially held in the case, but who have been allowed to return home.

Is this true? Who knows. At this point, nothing about this case would surprise me.

The Behavior Of Van Der Sloot

Behavioral specialists on Tuesday questioned a young Dutch suspect in the disappearance of Natalee Holloway, and a volunteer group conducted a final search of a landfill where a witness claimed to have seen men dumping a female body.

The behavior specialists from the Netherlands questioned Joran van der Sloot to observe his body language and look for inconsistencies in his account of what happened the night Holloway, 18, disappeared, police spokesman Edwin Comenencia said.

I can think of a few other “behavioral specialists” who would like a word with him as well.

Maybe “behavioral specialist” doesn’t mean what it used too…

Beth Holloway Twitty Returns Home

After spending two months on Aruba following the disappearance of her daughter, the mother of missing Alabama teen Natalee Holloway has returned home to Birmingham indefinitely.

Beth Holloway Twitty will return to the island if there are any developments in Holloway’s case.

Meanwhile, a search of an Aruban pond has ended with no sign of the missing teen, said the lead investigator on the case.

“The search at the pond is over,” Roy Trump told CNN. “It’s unfortunate, of course, but there was nothing there. We’re finished at the pond.”
