Christopher Barrios Found Dead

A horrible ending to a sad story…

A six-year-old boy who vanished a week ago while playing near his trailer-park home in coastal Georgia was found dead today.

Police say the body of Christopher Michael Barrios was found about three miles from home near the Glynn County airport. Glynn County Police Chief Matt Doering said the body had not been buried but was concealed by a material he did not identify.

Doering said it was obvious that the child had been slain but would not go into details. He said he believed all four suspects questioned in the case would be charged with murder.

Doering said the body was found by a state Department of Natural Resources ranger. He said the body was found after police expanded their search beyond a patch of woods that had been searched for two days. That was the area where two of the suspects told police they had buried the body.

While those responsible for his death will be held accountable, what is going to be done about the procedure that allowed authorities to wait four days before making the Levi’s Call?

Were they searching for those four days, or did they wait until the revelation hit them that 6 year old children don’t disappear on their own?

Either way, the Glynn County Police Department needs to make changes to their procedure for cases involving missing children.

Kaylon Robinson

A Levi’s call — Georgia’s child abduction alert — was issued just before 5 p.m. Wednesday for 2-year-old Kaylon Robinson.

He was last seen in a Stockbridge neighborhood.

Police said Robinson may be with Arthur Curtis Jones.

Officials told Channel 2 Jones is a drug addict.

They are possibly traveling in a 2001 green Chrysler PT Cruiser with California tag 5CTR268.

Authorities believe Robinson is in extreme danger.

Early reports indicate Jones was dating Robinson’s mother — who lives in California. Jones, Robinson and a legal guardian were all living in the same house.

Police said Jones left the home with Robinson yesterday at 2 p.m. to pick up another child — but that child was never picked up and Robinson and Jones have not been seen since.

Robinson is described as a 2-year-old black male that was last seen wearing a burgandy pajama top, grey pajama pants and possibly white tennis shoes.

Jones is described as a 54-year-old black male, 5′8′ and 205 pounds. He is bald and was last seen wearing blue jeans, a white t-shirt, white Reeboks and a white baseball cap.

If you have any information on their whereabouts you are asked to call 911.

Officials told Channel 2 Jones is a drug addict.

Authorities believed Robinson was in extreme danger.

Carroll County authorities pulled over Jones and Robinson on I-20 Westbound just after 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Suspects Parents Under Arrest

One missing boy. A whole family arrested.

Glynn County police, frustrated by what appear to be false confessions in the case of a missing six-year-old boy, said today they have arrested two men on charges they lied to investigators.

Police charged David Edenfield and Donald Dale with lying by claiming to have buried the boy’s dead body. Authorities say the two were charged after they lead officers last night to a spot where they say six-year-old Christopher Michael Barrios was buries near the mobile home park where he lives near Brunswick, about 60 miles south of Savannah.

George David Edenfield has told police he played a role in abducting Christopher and police consider him a suspect. But investigators have failed to find the boy after searching his mobile home and other areas around the trailer park based on tips by the suspect and his mother.

George David Edenfield has been jailed on charges he violated his probation, which prohibits him from contact with children under 18. His mother, Peggy Edenfield, also is charged with giving false statements to police.

With a four day head start, you’d think they would have come up with a story for the police.

Suspect Arrested In Barrios Disappearance

Georgia police arrested a sex offender in connection to the disappearance of 6-year-old Christopher Michael Barrios Jr., who has been missing for five days.

FOX affiliate WAWS reported that authorities Monday night searched the trailer of convicted sex offender George Edenfield, a 32-year-old man with the mental capacity of a 5-year-old. He lives in the same neighborhood as the Barrios family.

After four days of searching, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation on Monday issued a Levi’s Call for Christopher, who disappeared last Thursday from the trailer park in Glynn County.

Sue Rodriguez, the boy’s grandmother, told FOX News on Tuesday that Edenfield lived across the street from Christopher’s trailer in the mobile home park, and that he had tried to talk to the boy before.

A reward of $31,500 has been offered for Christopher’s safe return.

He is described as Hispanic/black, about 3 feet, 6 inches tall and weighing about 60 to 70 pounds. He was last seen wearing a long-sleeve blue or green shirt, black pants and white Reebok Velcro shoes with a blue stripe.

Anybody with information is asked to call the Glynn County Police Department Criminal Investigation Division at 912-554-7802.

This case sounds eerily familiar to the Jessica Lunsford case. The suspect lives across the street in a trailer.

I am more sickened though, by the lack of action by the Glynn County Police Department. This child has been missing for five days, yet the alerts were only issued yesterday.

Four days after he disappeared.

Every time a child is abducted the police emphasize that time is key to the recovery of the child.

The police did not use their most valuable tool, the media, to get the word out in a timely manner. Sure, it’s easy to look back and criticize the police.

Sure enough, hindsight is 20/20, but I could be blind and still recognize there was negligence in this case.

Christopher Michael Barrios Jr.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation issued Monday a Levi’s Call for a 6-year-old boy who disappeared last week from the trailer park where he lives.

Authorities have searched nonstop since Christopher Michael Barrios Jr. was reported missing Thursday about two hours after he was last seen near his home in the Canal Mobile Park Home. Glynn County Police Chief Matt Doering said he believes the boy was abducted, but so far no clues about what happened have emerged.

“Six-year-olds just don’t typically walk off and disappear on their own,” Doering said.

GBI spokesman John Bankhead said Levi’s Calls are mostly used for confirmed abductions but “given the scenario, we felt it was best to go ahead and issue one.”

Six-year-olds don’t walk off and disappear on their own, but authorities apparently wait several days (he disappeared last week from the trailer park where he lives) before sounding the alarm.

Brilliant. Simply brilliant police work down there in Glynn County.

Anyone with information can call the Glynn County Police department at (912) 554-3645 or (912) 554-7802, or the Silent Witness line at (912) 264-1333.
