Learning A Lesson About Moving Companies

A couple months ago we undertook quite a task around here.
We moved everything that was in our basement upstairs to our garage, and everything that was in our garage down to the basement. I know it sounds confusing, but it's not, not really.
When we moved into our house back several years ago, we spent time researching the best moving companies in the area. We didn't need them to move everything from the old house to the new house, but we did need them to move all the big stuff. We handled moving all the little stuff, but we relied on them to move the refrigerator, the dining room hutch, the piano, and other big items that otherwise could have been broken if we had attempted to move them ourselves.
The important thing was researching the local companies and finding the right one to do the job. You hear horror stories everyday from people who didn't check referrals and other important factors before trusting their valued possessions in the hands of strangers. I wish there was a service like Saveology when we were moving, although our experience turned out okay, it would have been nice to compare the different companies all at one time.
Anyway, back to the topic at hand, when we moved in, we had certain items placed downstairs in our basement, and it was finally time to move things around to a more "living" situation. The moving guys were cool, because they put stuff exactly where we wanted it, and they didn't question why. I sort of wish they would have though, because it would have been nicer if we had paid the moving company to put things where we were actually going to need them. Then again, it took us seven years to figure out what needed to go where.
Lesson learned.
