Learning The Hard Way

We're almost a week into 2010, and things are going better that 2009 already. That is, if you take the bitter cold front, the intermittent DSL service, and the fact that I feel like I have been playing catch up since the 1st.
Last year at this time I was 16 days away from being laid off by the company I worked for. As the only person who telecommuted for the company I was kept in the dark about several changes they were making, one of which was replacing me.
2009 was a tough year, looking for work, starting my own company, and working to get things ramped up full time by 2010. Because our family of five was living off unemployment and a very limited income, I became quite the expert at Debt Management, but if I had it to all over again I think I would have rather learned about that before I was thrown into the financial fire, so to speak.
It's important, especially in this economy, to keep your finances in check and to keep tabs on your debts. By not paying close enough attention before January of last year, it made things very rough for us for almost the entire year.
Now that I've had a hands-on lesson in debt management, I'm off to my next task. Time management.
