The Benefit Of Iron Entry Doors

When I lived in Las Vegas, we had a nice iron screen door that was very durable, and added to the look of the house. It included a heavy deadbolt mechanism as well as a lock on the doorknob itself. For security it couldn't be beat. It wasn't made of the normal "screen door" material, so there was no way for an intruder to bust his way through it. In the spring and fall, the door allowed a maximum amount of air to flow into the house.
It was awesome. Sadly, since moving to Georgia, I haven't been able to find another screen door like it, and I doubt I ever will. When we first moved here, I looked everywhere for a door like that one, to no avail. Although I have had no luck, one thing has remained consistent. I have always been interested in affordable iron doors. There's something about the strength and security knowing you have an iron door, and the details can really highlight the aesthetic value of your home.
Most of the people down here have wooden or aluminum doors, and not iron entry doors. That fact alone blew me away. You'd think in an area such as ours, which is prone to heavy storms at different times throughout the year, they would prefer heavier doors that didn't get ripped from their hinges and blown into the next county. I have tried to find these doors at several locations, but when I describe it to the salespeople they just stare at me and drool.
I guess I just haven't learned to articulate what it is I am looking for, but I don't know how to make it much clearer. I want a nice, well-built door that looks good, and I only know of one place to get one.
If you're a fan of wrought iron railings or fences, then I highly recommend checking out iron doors. You won't be disappointed.
