Freddy Bienstock, a prominent music publishing executive who had a long association with Elvis Presley as his designated song screener, died on Sunday at his home in Manhattan. He was 86.

Besides his daughter, who is chief operating officer of Carlin America and will assume her father’s role on the board of the National Music Publishers’ Association, Mr. Bienstock is survived by his wife, Miriam, a former partner in Atlantic Records; a son, Robert, also a Carlin executive; and five grandchildren.

Rest In Peace, Freddy.
