Double Checking Coverage

Twice a year I look at my auto insurance policy, double check my coverage, and see if there are any areas I can tweak to save a little money.

Twice a year I end up calling my existing insurance company to see if they have any offers or incentives they want to throw in, just in case I find something more lucrative to my wallet.

I still don't understand why I pay as much as I do when my vehicle sits in the driveway 4 out of 7 days a week, and when I do drive it, it's usually less than 40 miles round trip. The thing I need to remember when doing an auto insurance quotes comparison is that these companies take a lot more than my drive time into consideration.

First they want to know my age. If I am too young or too old, I could pay more. Then they want to know what kind of vehicle I drive. A big one, that moves quickly (but not too quickly mind you). Do I drive more than x number of miles in a year, and where do I store that vehicle at night. All of these factors, and many more I am sure, are used to determine how much I should pay for an insurance policy.

All in all it's not so bad. It could be worse. I could be really old, living somewhere with a lot of traffic where everyone is speeding, and park my truck out on the street at night.
