Ed McMahon Dies

Ed McMahon, the loyal "Tonight Show" sidekick who bolstered boss Johnny Carson with guffaws and a resounding "H-e-e-e-e-e-ere's Johnny!" for 30 years, died early Tuesday. He was 86.

McMahon died shortly after midnight at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center surrounded by his wife, Pam, and other family members, said his publicist, Howard Bragman.

In The Name Of Protecting The Innocent

President Barack Obama signed the Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act in to law today. So what is the purpose of this law?

The new law bans candy and fruit flavors in tobacco products, and it limits advertising that could attract young people.

The Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act also allows the FDA to lower the amount of addiction-causing nicotine in tobacco products and block misleading labels such "low tar" and "light." Tobacco companies also will be required to cover their cartons with large graphic warnings.

The law won't let the FDA ban nicotine or tobacco outright.

Quick quiz.

01. Name two tobacco products you have seen in the last 90 days on television. (You do not have to include any products which contain candy or fruit flavors in your answer).

02. Name two tobacco products you have seen in the last 90 days in print. (Once again, you do not have to include any products which contain candy or fruit flavors in your answer).

03. Name two tobacco products that you know of, which contain candy or fruit flavors.

Exactly who is this law really going to protect?

Bueller? Bueller?

Before too long they'll be regulating the production of office furniture because you know, those chairs can spin awfully fast and you might actually be productive while sitting at a desk.
