Sphere: Related ContentTelevision veteran Ward Costello passed away in Redlands, California on June 4 following from complications related to a stroke. The actor was eighty-nine years old.
During his lengthy career, Ward was best known for roles on “The Streets of San Francisco,” (as Capt. Roy Devitt from 1976-1977) “Barnaby Jones,” (as Charles Markwell from 1976-1978) and “Firefox,” where he played General Rogers in 1982. He also had a substantial career in the soaps, appearing on “The Secret Storm” (as Peter Ames from 1964 – 1966), “Edge of Night” (as Jack Berman) and General Hospital (as Senator Martin Drake from 1981 – 1989). He was also a composer and wrote the lyrics to the theme for the James Cagney film, “The Gallant Hours.”
