Target Marketing, To The Extreme

I learned a lot tonight about targeted marketing. Running a successful business depends on your marketing strategy. If your marketing strategy fails, then you business too will most likely fail.
Once you get the marketing down pat, you need to collect relevant information from each customer and every sale. Whether you run a business with one or two products or a multi-million dollar conglomerate, that customer data help you decide which items to push, which items to pull, and whether some strategies would be worth your time and effort.
One example of companies with excellent data collection is dating websites. Take Rencontre for instance. Their objective is simple. They help like minded people meet. That's it. While the objective is simple, the data collection involved to make it happen, the right way, is far from it.
They have to match people based on their location, their personality, and their interests. It's not worth your time or theirs if they introduce you to someone you have no interest in so they depend on data collection and target marketing every single day, with every single customer.
Now that's target marketing.
