Planning Ahead

A friend of mine called last week asking some questions about how to update his resume. After working for the same company for 15 years, they were going to announce cutbacks this week and he wanted to be prepared.

The last time I talked to him he was living in Denver, Colorado, but he has since relocated to Massachussetts. Once we got done updating his employment and other information I pointed him to sales jobs in the Boston area. You know, just in case.

He was smart to plan ahead because the company made their announcement on Friday and they ended up letting him and 27 other people go. He has lots of experience so I was sure he would find something fairly quick, and he did. According to him, Boston sales jobs are quite competitive at the moment, and he appreciated having a site that listed all of the different sales related positions, along with the different cities and towns close to him.

The website displayed listings for over 7,000 jobs in the area and he found one almost immediately. With his experience, there was no doubt, but he said that the Boston sales jobs was very beneficial in minimizing his down time.

There is no doubt that the economy has turned south. Just how far south it has turned is anybody's guess, but it's already having an impact on a few people I know. I'm just glad I was able to help when it was needed.
