The BailOut Fiasco: Sen. Judd Gregg

Posted by Slobokan @ 15:27 · 164 words · print

Sen. Judd Gregg (R-NH), the Senate Budget Committee Ranking Member, speaks at the Senate Republican Press Conference this afternoon.

He spoke about the bailout rescue plan making three points.

#1. He claims it contains strong taxpayer protection. He states that every dollar we put in "will probably" have a significant return and every dollar made will go to reduce the national debt.

#2. People will not be allowed to game the system. There won't be golden parachutes. There will not be high compensation.

#3. They want to make sure people stay in their homes.

No amount of oversight will convince me that putting the government in charge of mortgages and other investment programs is a good idea.

We need to work on a solution to this problem, but adding pork to influence votes only hurts us, the taxpayers. The Senate votes tonight on the measure, contact your Senators and urge them to vote against this bill.
