Checkin' The Stats – October 2008

I was pretty busy in September. I did seven more episodes of Test Pattern focusing on the energy issues facing our country, and two focusing on the $700 billion bailout in Congress. Between the day job, the night job, and the political activity, I was sitting at my desk for 14-16 hours per day.

Anyway, let's take a look at the stats for September.

The top 10 referring sites (other than Twitter) for September were:

Musing Minds
Flopping Aces
Sister Toldjah
Hot Air
Insignificant Thoughts
Pundit Review
Shadowscope
Alexa Shrugged
The Soda Stand
All Sewn Up

The top 10 search terms that brought people here in September were:

slobokan (did you really need to search for me, if you knew who I was?)
richard wright (may he rest in peace)
hamachi service (highly recommended)
liquid cancer (a real bad thing)
warren savage (anchor turned junkie, hopefully clean)
strip checkers (umm. okay. king me)
nikki bacharach (may she rest in peace)
my wife naked (yeah, you wish)
presidential candidate comparison chart (good info there)
brown widow spider (blech)

Notable searches for the month:

man in tutu (on this blog?)
what will your obituary say? (good question)

The top three search engines sending traffic my way were Google, Windows Live, Yahoo!

The busiest day of the week was Tuesday. The busiest time of day was 4:00pm EDT, and the busiest day of the month was the 9th.

Internet Explorer usage dropped from 39.1% to 33%, which sets the all time record low for Internet Explorer usage. I still recommend Firefox over Internet Explorer.

The top ten countries (after .com, .net, and .edu domains) for August were:

European Union (.eu)
Great Britain (.gb)
Norway (.no)
Argentina (.ar)
Australia (.au)
Germany (.de)
China (.cn) *Still not banned I guess
France (.fr) (how did they get in?)
Switzerland (.ch)
Canada (.ca)

The top ten individual pages people came to see (excluding the main index and rss feeds) were:

Running Hamachi As A Service
Akismet Anti-Spam Module for Drupal and phpBB
Your 2008 Presidential Candidates At A Glance
Richard Wright Dies*
Latrodectus Geometricus: Brown Widow
A Lot Of Talk About Nothing*
Test Pattern #88: Welcome Back*
My Wife Loves Getting Naked
Respect, Responsibility & 12,000 Flags*
Hate Is Hate No Matter How You Spell It*

* Five of these posts were written during August. The record for the most posts in the top 10 from the most recent month was 8, set in January of 2008.

The top ten category pages were:

My Opinions
Linux
Personalized
Obituaries
Featured

Test Pattern
Bloggage
Vituperate
Comical Schtuff
Hebetude

And now for the numbers.

I had another successful month of blocking a specific block of spammers that has done nothing but cause problems.

I had 8,095 unique visitors, over 318,381 page views, over 468,300 hits, the average stay on the site was 2-5 minutes, and you helped me burn 13.91 GB of bandwidth.

Thanks for stopping by!
