Finding A Port In The Storm

With the housing market in the trouble it's in and high gas prices affecting people's budgets, it's no wonder there has been such an increase in eviction notices in recent months.
The last time we passed through our old neighborhood, we noticed that 5 out of the 6 house on the street were up for sale or had been foreclosed on. Just down the road from that neighborhood there is a high-end apartment complex with more furniture on the street than in some of the apartments. It seems more and more people are having a heck of a time with their finances and falling behind. They are having to deal with the threat of eviction as they struggle to figure out how to make ends meet for another week or two.
It's no surprise to me that people are in the trouble they are in. While many people who have lost their homes have no one else to blame but themselves, many of them were sucked into some of the strangest mortgage loans I have ever seen. Now, many of those same people are having a heck of a time finding money lenders who will actually help them get out of the mess they are in.
If you find yourself in this kind of situation, make sure you take some time to reflect on how you got there, and focus on the path forward rather than dwelling on the road already traveled.
