Checkin The Stats – July 2008

Posted by Slobokan @ 13:11 · 455 words · print

July was a busy month around here. In addition to a couple big new projects at the day job, I started producing Test Pattern podcasts a bit more regularly. I was thinking of producing them on a set schedule, but I don't think I would produce my best work if I was required to put something out on days when I had nothing to say.

Anyway, let's take a look at the stats for July.

The top 10 referring sites (other than Twitter) for July were:

1938 Media
Musing Minds
Insignificant Thoughts
Kathy's Tech Blog
Sister Toldjah
All Sewn Up
Pundit Review
Shadowscope
My Vast Right Wing Conspiracy
The Soda Stand

The top 10 search terms that brought people here in July were:

warren savage (anchor turned junkie, hopefully clean)
slobokan (did you really need to search for me, if you knew who I was?)
hamachi service (highly recommended)
liquid cancer (old post, still very important)
phyllis brown (may she rest in peace)
fred ball (may he rest in peace)
sidney dorsey (sheriff turned outlaw)
tony snow (may he rest in peace)
les crane (may he rest in peace)
tv stands

Notable search of the month: is there a full moon tonight (why not look outside?)

The top three search engines sending traffic my way were Google, Windows Live, Yahoo!

The busiest day of the week was Friday. The busiest time of day was 4:00pm EDT, and the busiest day of the month was the 10th.

Internet Explorer usage dropped from 48.1% to 42.6%, which sets the all time record low for Internet Explorer usage. I still recommend Firefox over Internet Explorer.

The top ten countries (after .com, .net, and .edu domains) for July were:

Great Britain (.gb)
Norway (.no)
China (.cn) *Still not banned I guess
European Union (.eu)
Japan (.jp)

Netherlands (.nl)
Australia (.au)
Canada (.ca)
Germany (.de)
South Korea (.kr)

Honorable Mention: Austria (.at) which I cannot remember ever being this close to the top 10.

The top ten individual pages people came to see (excluding the main index and rss feeds) were:

Running Hamachi As A Service
Warren Savage Arrested Again
Akismet Anti-Spam Module for Drupal and phpBB
Warren Savage Sentenced
WordPress 2.6 Is Here*
What You See Is What You Get*
Test Pattern #49: The 2 Minute Blackberry Jam*
What Really Caused The Mortgage Crisis*
Countrywide Facing Sub-Prime Lawsuit*
Les Crane Dies*

* Six of these posts were written during July. The record for the most posts in the top 10 from the most recent month was 8, set in January of 2008.

The top ten category pages were:

Test Pattern
Personalized
Obituaries
Hebetude
Vituperate
ma.gnolia links
Featured
Local Yokel
My Opinions
FYI

And now for the numbers.

The lower numbers reflected this month are a result of blocking a couple spammer sites that were really pissing me off.

I had 9,168 unique visitors, over 315,893 page views, over 494,093 hits, the average stay on the site was 2-5 minutes, and you helped me burn 14.92 GB of bandwidth.

Thanks for stopping by!
