I'm Done

I've had it. I'm done. With two sentences arriving via "breaking news" it's over. I am done.
Here's another one that came in while I was beginning this post:
President Bush will attend opening ceremonies of Olympics in Beijing.
Why is it so easy for people to ignore the reality of what's happening in Tibet?
Oh sure, people either stick their head in the sand or are very quick to add that it was Tibetans who were rioting. Wow. Umm. I really don't know how to respond to that, except to say, there must be a reason they are rioting, don't ya think?
Isn't it time we all stand up and do the right thing? Until something is done about human rights in China, I think we should be doing what we can to make sure the voices from within China are heard. We should be sending a message to the Chinese government that we do not agree with their stance on human rights.
Change can only happen if it comes from within, but those that are "within" China need to know there are people out here supporting them. They have to hear our voices, they have to see our actions. Without confidence that we support them, can they truly succeed?
Why is it so easy for our government to ignore the problems in China anyway? Why do they feel the need to appease the Chinese government? Why do we continue to boycott Cuba but open our arms to China? I just don't get it.
Something has to be done. Political leaders around the world are considering boycotting the opening ceremonies to send a message, but our President has already announced the he and Mrs. Bush will be attending.
Thank you, Mr. President, for destroying the last bit of confidence I had in you. While others have spent the past few years tearing you apart on one issue or another, I always had the confidence that you were a man of honor, that you honestly try to do the right thing. Obviously, I was gravely mistaken.
I hope you're happy with your decision. I hope you feel good acting as a tool of propaganda for the Chinese government. I hope you feel good sending a message to those who have been tortured and treated like dogs that the United States really doesn't care about human rights in China.
Enjoy yourself at the Olympic Games, Tibet might still be there when you get back.
