Today's Project Kept Me Busy.

I was busy most of the day doing some woodworking in the garage. Yes, I know this is a food blog, but when I am not eating, or playing with any of my techno gadgets, the place I like to be is in the garage making stuff.

Today's project, was a new window seat for our oldest son's room. It's a nice 4ft long window seat, that sits about 18 inches off the ground, and will allow him to sit in the window and watch the world go by, or read a good book, or something like that.

Tomorrow's project? Garlic mashed potatoes and something. Yeah. I haven't decided what we're eating tomorrow, but one thing is for sure. We are having garlic mashed potatoes because I am craving them.

Pictures of the window seat, coming soon.

When Songs Take You To Another Place And Time

It's funny how things that happen in your life today can take you back to a time and place when you made a difficult decision that ended up having a huge impact on your life. I was sitting here today listening to music on my iPod when Boston started playing. I haven't listened to Boston for over 10 years. In fact, the last time I listened to Boston was the night I decided that I was not going to take a job in New Zealand.

While tryign to decide if I was going to take the job, I weighed the pros and cons of moving around the world and to a completely different hemisphere. To be honest, there were not too many cons on the list, but I ended up staying put and if I hadn't, I wouldn't have met my future wife (just three months later).

I often think of that day, when I was checking out airline fares, direct travel insurance, hotel stays, and such. I was planning to see different parts of the world as I made my way south for the job. I have no regrets about not taking the job, but I do regret not traveling while I had the chance.

I suppose I still have the chance now, but with three young kids, I am a bit more hesitant about traveling, even though there are many different online booking tools that can help me out, and the availabilty of travel insurance is much better these days.

Who knows, my wife and I, along with our kids, just might make it Down Under yet.

Another Chicken Recipe

We are always looking for new chicken recipes. The kids love chicken and we only have so many ideas for cooking it each night.

Tonight, we have a new idea. Grilled Chicken Tostadas, from Simple Daily Recipes.

I might change some of the ingredients cuz I am not too hot on sour cream, but we shall see. When we make these, I will make sure to take photos.
