Is It In Their Blood?

Just a couple weeks ago, one of the schools in the area sponsored a rodeo, and I decided it was time that the kids (and the wife) were introduced to a real rodeo.
While they all had a blast, I just couldn't help but compare it to all of the rodeos I have been to in the past. I spent quite a bit of time at the rodeos while living in South Dakota, and this small little rodeo was nothing compared those.
My favorite rodeo by far, was the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas back in 1987. Wow. Now that was a rodeo. Of course, I had never been to a "big time" rodeo before that, and I just happened to have won some National Final Rodeo tickets. It was almost as if it was meant to be. I loved that rodeo.
The tickets I won were for seats that weren't exactly "close" to all of the action, but we did have a great vantage point just to the left of the gates for the bull riding competition, so they were the best seats in the house, as far as I was concerned.
You couldn't get me on one of those bulls (even though I sometimes thing the bullfighting clowns have it more dangerous), but it sure is fun to watch bull riding. That's the one event that hooked the kids as well. They love to watch bullriding now.
There's another rodeo coming to the area next month, and apparently the kids are already making plans to go. I wonder if I am invited?
