My work laptop started acting up two days ago. I haven’t installed anything new, the laptop hasn’t moved, nothing is different. Well, except for the way the laptop is operating.

Six reboots in six minutes. Can your Mac do that?

    1. Dude, that sucks. I’ve been there with an old hunk of junk that now runs Ubuntu. The hard drive was the main problem, but I suspect there were some software issues too. I would use a Knoppix disk (anything after 4.0 doesn’t work for me). Boot up with it and an ext. HD plugged in, then add read/write permission and backup. Then format and reinstall. Maybe get a new hard drive too before this one goes “Tits Up”.

    2. Yeah, I need to try something else soon. The HD is only a couple months old, and it checks out with Spinrite. Next, I need to restrict what starts up at boot so I can see if something else is interfering. If not, then I will be going the external HD recovery route.
