As you know, I have been following the sub-prime lending fiasco quite closely over the past few months, and I have to say, one sector of the market I haven’t seen much news on, is the mobile home mortgage industry. I don’t know if mobile home mortgages are different or what, but like I said, I just haven’t heard about them in the news.

It wasn’t too long ago that I had a friend in Arizona who went through a manufactured home refinancing, and he was quite pleased with the entire process. He said that the company he went with did an excellent job explaining things to him and making the whole process quite enjoyable.

When I was a kid, I grew up in a trailer park, and my mom financed the mobile home we lived in, so you could say I am somewhat familiar (but not too much) with mobile home loans. I do know that my mom worked hard and raised my sister and I as a single parent so the loan must have been beneficial to my mother as well as the finance company.

One thing I have noticed over the past 20 years, is the quality of mobile homes sure has gone up. I’ve seen some recently that make the nice one we had look horrible.
