Tracking My Life

As a tech junkie, I have a lot of different gadgets around here. I have old computer parts from more than 10 years ago. I have laptops, cell phones, digital cameras, handheld gps devices, and even a small handheld pc. I am totally enamoured with my beloved Nokia N810. The Nokia and the handheld gps device handle all of my GPS tracking needs.

I have to admit that I am quite obsessed with GPS tracking. I don’t know why, I always have been. I find it fascinating that these little devices know exactly where I am no matter where I am. I find myself testing the routing functions all the time, to see if the GPS really knows the fastest or shortest route to my destination. The older device has issues with that because the streets are not updated, but the Nokia has no problem getting me from point A to point B.

I use the Nokia for all my GPS tracking while driving my car, and I use my older handheld device when I am hiking in the mountains, where I place waypoints and use the compass feature a lot.

GPS tracking comes in very handy when you are lost in a city you are unfamiliar with or when you’re hiking in the mountains and need to find your way back out.
