The (Rubber) Stamp Of Approval

Posted by Slobokan @ 13:19 · 231 words · print

Many years ago, when I started my first business, I was hung up on rubber stamps. In a way, I still am. Back then, I tried to use rubber stamps for everything. I used them to mark bills as paid (my bills). I used them to mark invoices paid. I even used one to sign letters that I would send out, because I got so tired of signing my own name.

My favorite stamp is the address stamp. I still have the first one I bought when I lived on Charleston Blvd. in Las Vegas. That was about 20 years ago. Ouch. I used to put my name and address on everything I owned. If it had a place for a stamped address, it got one. Books, video tapes, even some electronic grear.

My infatuation with the rubber stamp isn't as severe as it used to be, but there's just something about them that gets me all worked up. I'm not sure if it's the smell of the rubber, or the ink, but something happens when I see them. Once I see a rubber stamp at a store, I have to stand there and look through all of them (heck there might be one there that I don't already have you know).
