It Figures

Oreo (the neighborhood cat) has been gone for several months now. She found a good home with a nice lady, where she can still run and play outside, and we won't have to worry about her with the traffic out front or the dogs running through the wooded area out back.
The things I have had to invest in since she left, however, are mouse traps. She was a great mouser. For the year or so that she lived in our yard, we never saw a mouse. It was awesome.
Before she "adopted us", we had mice all the time, which came in from the meadow behind the house. It got real old. We could hear them scurrying around in the attic and it drove us nuts. We even called a pest control company which brought out humane mouse traps, and tried to get rid of them, but nothing was more effective than that darn cat.
She chased all sorts of creatures and bugs. In a way, she was the best pest control we could have found. She killed water bugs, centipedes, scorpions, and if given the chance I bet she could get rid of everything from roly poly's to bed bugs.
Yes, tonight I am sitting here missing the cat. It figures.
