Sticking With The Day Job

One of the things I do at the day job is work with digital video. Our systems record video directly to a hard drive where the customer can view it in their browser, download it, or burn it to dvd.

One thing we don’t do is convert video from other sources, like converting 16mm Film to DVD. We don’t get many customers asking for that type of thing, thank goodness. Other companies are already very adept at providing that service so why reinvent the wheel, so to speak.

A while back we had a customer ask if we could help convert an 8mm Film to DVD for him, which of course we couldn’t, but we made a recommendation that paid off for us because he signed a new contract with us because his converted video came back looking better than the original he had sent in.

We handle live video that is saved in a digital format at the time of recording and we have nothing in place to convert those videos through film transfer . Most our customers monitor their live systems and only burn them to dvd if there is an event that is called into question that they need a record of.
