Who's Feeding The Cats?

Posted by Slobokan @ 00:25 · 92 words · print

Word has it, that two of the big cats at Zoo Atlanta are sick.

One, a tiger, seems to have an upset stomach.

The other, a lioness, has a severe case of anemia and it doesn't look good.

My question is… Where does the food for these animals come from? Could there be melamine in the lion/tiger food? Is there a "Made In China" label on the bags of kitty food?

Stop laughing. I am serious. What role do the pet food companies play in this?

Hopefully the pet food companies have nothing to do with it — as lions and tigers require raw meat in the diet, not pet food. I volunteer with a refuges that rescues big cats and we have 2 deformed tigers because they were raised on dog food.
