Test Pattern #51: Day Dreaming

Test Pattern #51: Day Dreaming from Slobokan on Vimeo.

It was a beautiful day today, so I decided to sit outside and relax for a bit. People are so busy sometimes, they forget to look up for a couple moments each day.

Just look at what they’re missing.

The music is “Angel’s Breath” by Paul Avgerinos from the album “Sky Of Grace”, which is available at magnatune.com.

Checkin’ The Stats - June 2008

I’m a few days late posting this, but I have good excuses. I was busy with the day job, I have been learning how to use Sony Vegas to produce my Test Pattern videos, and, oh yeah, the Fourth of July weekend was upon me and I wanted to let loose and have fun.

Let’s take a look at the stats for June.

The top 10 referring sites for June were:

Musing Minds
Sister Toldjah
Insignificant Thoughts
Right Wing News
Gateway Pundit
Pundit Review
My Vast Right Wing Conspiracy
The Soda Stand
A Pile Of Dog Bones
Right TV

The top 10 search terms that brought people here in June were:

warren savage (anchor turned junkie, hopefully clean)
hamachi service (highly recommended)
bob anderson (may he rest in peace)
fred ball (may he rest in peace)
my wife naked (ha! for my eyes only!)
tomatoes salmonella (might not be the tomatoes)
sidney dorsey (sheriff turned outlaw)
strip checkers (wow, okay, when?)
phyllis brown (may she rest in peace)
dody goodman (may she rest in peace)

Notable search of the month: paris hilton naked (you wish)

The top three search engines sending traffic my way were Google, Windows Live, Yahoo!

The busiest day of the week was Tuesday. The busiest time of day was 5:00pm EDT, and the busiest day of the month was the 25th.

Internet Explorer usage rose from 44.9% to 48.1%. The all-time low record for Internet Explorer usage was set last month at 44.9%. I still recommend Firefox over Internet Explorer.

The top ten countries (after .com, .net, and .edu domains) for June were:

Canada (.ca)
Great Britain (.gb)
China (.cn) *Still not banned I guess

Australia (.au)
Egypt (.eg)
Netherlands (.nl)
Germany (.de)
Malaysia (.my)

Honorable Mention: France (.fr) which placed 11th, it’s highest rank in many, many months.

The top ten individual pages people came to see (excluding the main index and rss feeds) were:

Running Hamachi As A Service
Warren Savage Arrested Again
Update: Raw Tomato Salmonella*
Warren Savage Arrested
Akismet Anti-Spam Module for Drupal and phpBB

* Four of these posts were written during June. The record for the most posts in the top 10 from the most recent month was 8, set in January of 2008.

The top ten category pages were:

Obituaries
My Opinions
Personalized
FYI

And now for the numbers.

I had 11,096 unique visitors, over 303,877 page views, over 501,042 hits, the average stay on the site was 2-5 minutes, and you helped me burn 12.98 GB of bandwidth.

Warren Savage Grateful For Second Chance

There is an article in the AJC today about Warren Savage and his “second chance”.

He admits in the article that the whole problem was him. Which is unusual in today’s world where most people, no matter what they’ve been through, blame other people for their failings and misfortune.

Q: So why not change yourself?

A: The one common denominator in all my frustrations was me. I was self-centered, arrogant, egotistical. That was the crux of it. All of that clouded my view of what really mattered. I lost sight of what I meant to those who tuned in to watch me every morning, especially little black boys.

It’s good to hear that he is truning his life around, or at least trying to. I wish him well.

Eric Lieber Dies

Eric Lieber, a veteran television producer who created and executive-produced TV’s long-running dating show “Love Connection,” has died. He was 71.

Lieber died of leukemia Wednesday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, said his wife, Peggy, who worked as co- producer with her husband for many years.

After launching his career on a TV game show in New York in the late 1950s, Lieber became a producer of the Dick Cavett, Sammy Davis Jr. and Mike Douglas talk shows and three Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Assn. telethons.

In addition to his wife of 43years, Lieber is survived by a daughter, Christine; and a granddaughter.

Instead of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 1311 Mamaroneck Ave., White Plains, N.Y. 10605.

Rest In Peace, Eric.

Viacom Wants To Know What You Watched

Have you ever watched a video on YouTube? Have any idea if you were watching copyrighted material owned by Viacom? Are you ready to pay the consequences if you did?

A federal judge in New York has ordered Google to turn over to Viacom a database linking users of YouTube, the Web’s largest video site by far, with every clip they have watched there.

The order raised concerns among users and privacy advocates that the online video viewing habits of tens of millions of people could be exposed. But Google and Viacom said they were hoping to come up with a way to protect the anonymity of YouTube viewers.

Viacom said that the information would be safeguarded by a protective order restricting access to the data to outside advisers, who will use it solely to press Viacom’s $1 billion copyright suit against Google.

That’s right, they are not just going after the people who post copyrighted material, but this sounds like the foundation of a case against those who watch protected material.

Don’t worry though, it’s only your private user information and viewing habits they want to look at. What could go wrong?

Enjoy your Independence Day!

Test Pattern #49: The 2 Minute Blackberry Jam

Test Pattern #49: The 2 Minute Blackberry Jam from Slobokan on Vimeo.

We are fortunate to live in an area that is abundant with wild blackberry bushes. There is a little bit of work involved, but the reward is worth it. There is nothing like the taste of homemade blackberry jam.

Enjoy this quick video that demonstrates how to make this delicious (and almost free) treat.

Have a great Fourth Of July!
