CSI For The Geeks

Several years ago, we helped nab an internet predator who just happened to be targetting my brother-in-law. Not to sound stereotypical, but it all started in a chat room, and ended up with the guy getting caught because I found some items on my brother-in-law’s computer before anything really bad happened.

Back then, I never really gave any thought to computer forensics but lately I think of it a lot. Some of you know I used to work as a civilian courier at a police department (many years ago), and while I love shows like CSI and such, there is no way I could ever touch a dead body or work in that field, even though I find it interesting.

While I do have a job as a programmer, I have given thought to signing up for training to become a computer forensic expert. I think it would be fun to recover deleted items and restore electronic information, and then stand up in court and testify as to what was found. Very interesting schtuff in my mind.

Yeah, the more I think about it, the more computer forensics interests me. I think this is definitely a field I would excel in.
