Getting Professional Help Is Easy

When I married my wife ten years ago, I had no idea that she was a home decorating fanatic. I've seen lots of stories about spouses who are obsessed with redecorating and remodeling their homes, but they don't hold a candle, at all, against my wife.
In our first home together, she repainted the living room three times, we built a custom floor to ceiling bookcase, she repainted bedrooms and with her outstanding artistic skills, she painted murals on a few walls. The family room and the kitchen were in a constant state of flux, and before long we had new wood floors where wall to wall carpet had been when we moved in. Needless to say, it was hectic, but it all turned out beautiful.
We've been in this house for four years now, and she hasn't been nearly as fanatical about remodeling. In fact, the living room and kitchen are still on their first coats of paint, if you can believe that. The master bedroom, however, has been painted three times and furniture pulled out, replaced, re-arranged, and what not. Our basement is unfinished for the most part but we have been thinking of doing some work down there. I ran the water pipes for the toilet and sink in the bathroom down there, but we would like to "re-do" that whole side of the basement. Due to my schedule and the fact that she is homeschooling the boys and managing the house, I am thinking of calling in some professionals to help with some of the major stuff.
While researching contractors tonight, I found SignatureContractors.com, which makes it real easy to locate pre-screened, licensed, and insured contractors who specialize in home improvement and remodeling.
The Signature Contractors website has an online form, which they use to obtain three free estimates for the work you need done. Each of the three contractors then contact you and present their proposals, and then you pick the one who will complete the job. It sounds almost like one of the home improvement shows where they compete to get the job. Very cool.
I spent quite a bit of time at their website reviewing their consumer resources and learning more about their general contracting services, which just happen to be available in the Chicago and Atlanta areas. It appears they have contractors who can do just about anything, which is good, because I am going to need some electrical and plumbing for sure, and I am definitely not hanging the drywall myself.
I guess the only question is, which rooms do we want done, and what function do we want them to serve, huh?
