On the 1st, I posted a photo of a Black and Yellow Argiope that is living in the bushes of our backyard.

This afternoon I got this photo of his (or her) belly.

Make sure you click the image to see the full size version, and the mouth of this spider. Yikes! Growing up in the Las Vegas area, I never saw these things. We had black widows and other types of spiders but nothing this fancy. All we had was thousands and thousands of Las Vegas homes for sale so our wildlife consisted of thousands of people who thought they owned the place. ;)

  1. ok, EWWWWW!!!!! I come over here to visit you via the blog and what do I get in greeting? I huge ugly 8 legged spider waving to me!! AAHHH! …. Ok, I'm breathing again… and I'm still here… thankfully I luv you enough to overlook the sensation of my heart jumping out of my mouth….

We have those spiders all over our bushes in the front yard. They are freaking huge! I have to admit that their web designs are pretty cool with that zig-zag they do, but even so I would prefer they not be around. My DH is forced daily to round them up and walk them across the street, placing them in the woods there. I'm just too terrified of spiders to allow them to stay in plain view on my bushes out where I sit on my swing and read.

  2. HAha, I agree with Bridget… that was terrifying to see!

It reminds me of how my grandfather likes all of his spiders around his house because they kill other bugs. I guess it works too, because I hadn't thought about it, but I never really deal with mosquitoes when I'm up there, but I do most everywhere else during the summer.

My cousins and I were just joking the other day, because he has one living basically on his doorbell. He's actually a really normal old guy (former Marine and FBI man, etc.) but you won't find him killing a spider, he loves having 'em around!
