West Nile Hits Man In Dekalb County

West Nile seems to be heating up in the metro Atlanta area.

The DeKalb County Board of Health Monday confirmed the county's third human case of West Nile virus.

The Board of Health says the victim is a 37-year-old man from Chamblee.

He reportedly went to a local emergency room with flu like symptoms including a high fever, muscle aches, chills, double vision, and numbness in his fingers and extremities.

The unidentified man is currently hospitalized in intensvie care with viral meningitis and severe myelitis, which is a neurologic syndrome caused by inflammation of the spinal cord.
