Sitting ‘Round The Campfire

A while back I mentioned how we are trying to decide how to finish off our patio downstairs in the backyard. We’ve entertained many ideas, but we still aren’t sure exactly what we want to do with the area. When we built the kids fort (aka our gazebo) we had planned to put in a fire pit halfway between the gazebo and the house. We thought that having an area to sit around a fire pit would be inviting and relaxing, and who doesn’t love fire pits?

Gas Products Company has a great selection of fire pits and supplies. Their Outdoor Campfyre Complete System would be the perfect addition to our plans. It comes with seven handcrafted designer logs, wood chips, and lava granules and coals. It has a variable on/off valve so we could adjust the flame, and it comes in four different colors, I would like the granite one.

As you know, we live out in the boondocks, and we don’t have natural gas lines way out here, but that’s not a concern with this system because it also works off propane, and having that brought in would be a cakewalk.

I got a little carried away looking at all of their gas products, and now I have a completely new wish-list, in case you’re interested in surprising me one day.

Autumn is my FAVORITE time of year. And there is nothing better to do in autumn than to sit outside on a cool night, around a nice fire, making s’mores (which most southerners have never heard of! ) and just looking at the stars. I adore it. Usually I’ll bring my laptop out with me and play games or chat online while the fire is going.

We have a run of the mill fire pit. It is 30 feet from the house (which is city ordinance). It’s not a gas one though. I like wood - the crackling of the wood as it burns, the smell of it… Last year I fell asleep a few times out on my hammock-swing with the fire going (no worries, DH was keeping a close eye on me and the fire) - it is just toooooo relaxing.
