Starting Over

Many, many, years ago, I filed personal Bankruptcy. I was young and stupid, and although I had a mother who taught me everything she knew about living on a budget, I didn't take that advice to heart, and got myself into trouble.
I spent money on things that were a total waste. I bought items I really didn't need. I drank, I gambled, I spent, and I lost it all. The first sign I was in trouble, of course, was the constant barrage of phone calls from creditors looking for their money. They were easy to ignore. Really. I just stayed out so I wasn't home to answer the phone.
The next sign I was in trouble was the morning I went outside to go to work, and my truck was gone. I thought it had been stolen, but it in fact, had been repossessed. Ouch. Talk about a wake up call. That afternoon I called a Bankruptcy Lawyer to start the process. There was no way I was going to be able to pay back the money I owed, and I knew I had to do something.
Since then, I have been lucky (and smart). I now follow a budget (much like my mother taught me), and I try real hard to overspend, but it's difficult at times. When I read in the news about those facing an uncertain future because of the subprime lending fiasco, my only hope is that they find a way to recover from the ordeal, whether it's through refinancing (even though most companies can't work with them), selling, or if need be, contacting Bankruptcy Lawyers to start the process of "starting over".
I would never "recommend" bankruptcy to someone, but sometimes that's the only option they have, and if that's the case, they should take it. The folks at Total Bankruptcy can help in evaluating your situation and helping you locate a lawyer in your area.
