In Search Of Your Dream

In about two months, my sister is planning to move to San Diego. She has lived in the Las Vegas area all of her life, and she wants out. I can't blame her.
I know that feeling well. About thirteen years ago, I too "had to get out". I couldn't stand it anymore. Why? Probably for the same reason anyone wants to leave their hometown. I felt like I was in a "rut", I wanted to see what was out there, meet new people, and find the answer to life (I found that answer, it's 42). When I left I was willing to do anything, whether it was delivering pizzas, selling encyclopedias, or even stocking office supplies. Anything was better than feeling "trapped" in Las Vegas.
If I hadn't left Las Vegas I wouldn't have met so many interesting people, I wouldn't have seen so many interesting places, and I wouldn't be who I am today. Okay, okay, so I did return to Las Vegas for a short time, but then I met my future bride online, and moved again to be with her.
I can certainly understand my sister's desire to move away from Las Vegas, though honestly, I am surprised it took her this long to make the decision. Since she might be "in between" jobs when she moves, she is going to have to budget carefully and plan accordingly. Living in Southern California can be very expensive so she will have to be careful with her money, that's for sure. She'll be renting an apartment or townhouse when she gets down there, so we wont get to read about her adventures in home ownership or California mortgage refinance on her blog any time soon. Lord knows she and my mom have had their share of home-owning and refinancing adventures lately.
Anyway, I know my sister loves southern California and I hope she finds exactly what she's looking for.

I know your sister has been miserable in the house she is in for a while. I understand that feeling of having to "get out". I hope everything works out for her and your mom. I'll have them in my prayers.
