Remember those blackberries I was telling you about? One word.
Delicious.
Fresh, Homemade blackberry jam totally rocks. I did a survey of the blackberries in back 40 this evening. Not only will we have more blackberries soon, but it appears we have more muscadine vines than we thought as well. A few of you have messaged me, asking if we are going to make wine or jam. Our middle child loves muscadine jelly, so odds are we're making jam, but I'll let you know.
After supper tonight, which was spaghetti with italian sausage, topped with fresh parsley (from the garden of course), I did a few searches online for canning supplies and recipes. That garden will be kicking out fresh produce faster than we can eat it soon, and we want to be prepared.
While searching for canning recipes, I somehow ended up at Mysavings.com, which has a ton of Free Samples and Savings. When it comes to "free" anything, and saving money, I am hooked. Having three kids who eat like NFL linebackers, I'm always looking for a way to save a buck.
I printed out about a dozen coupons to use at the grocery store on payday, and I signed up to receive free samples of coffee (organic, fair trade coffee no less), tea, cereals, bee pollen, and my favorite, habanero sauce. I also found a few recipe brochures (in PDF format), including one with several pork recipes, that I can hardly wait to test.
Now if I can just find some good recipes for those Tabasco peppers I have growing in the garden, my life will be complete.
