Roll Call Vote #234: Sponsored by Sen. Max Baucus (D-MT).

On the Motion to Table (Motion to Table Div. VII Amdt. No. 1934 as Modified)

    REJECTED 52-45

I guess failing to table this amendment has thrown quite a monkey wrench in Scary Harry’s clay pigeon plan.

Michelle Malkin reports that a source on the Hill has stated,

The result of this vote was the Baucus amendment remained alive and the clay pigeon strategy was temporarily derailed and thus Senators’ rights were restored. The remaining amendments in the clay pigeon will not be voted on now before the cloture vote.

    So let’s review…

Last evening, Scary Harry gave Senators the evening to review the clay pigeon amendment. Then, this morning, he and his coaltion of “grand bargain” members rewrote it again.

They did not allow senators a chance to read the new amendment and they have stifled most debate on the issue on the floor today. If you don’t believe me, watch the three video posts I have done today.

Now it seems there will be no more debate on amendments before the cloture vote tomorrow at 10:30 (EDT).

Since when did we allow the Senate to become a cloak and dagger organization allowed to meet in private and hide legislation before it’s voted on?

Call your senators right now and urge them to vote NO on cloture tomorrow. Visit NumbersUSA and see what action items you can take part in, whether it’s calling or faxing your senators.

Many of the senators who were going to base their cloture vote on the outcome of specific amendment votes will not be receiving those results. You must contact them and urge them to oppose amnesty.
