A Baldwin corrections officer has been suspended after a female inmate, who is facing similar charges, was left unattended for about an hour in a sheriff’s van.

Sheriff Huey Mack Junior said the unidentified officer left the prisoner locked and handcuffed inside a van, with the windows closed, parked outside the Baldwin County Corrections Center around noon Wednesday.

Mack declined to release the inmate’s identity, but jail records indicated that the inmate was 27-year-old Liliana Baca. She was arrested in April on reckless endangerment charges she left her five-month-old child unattended inside her vehicle near the Waterfront Rescue Mission in Foley.
