As you probably know by now, President Bush is endorsing a plan that would lock in money for border security. It's all a ruse to get conservative lawmakers and us, the American people (80% of which are opposed to the Amnesty Bill) to capitulate and support this abomination of a bill.
Michelle Malkin was on The Laura Ingraham Show today, if you didn't hear it, Hot Air has a clip you're sure to enjoy.
Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC) had the immigration quote of the day:
"I appreciate the effort to fund border security, but there's simply no reason why we should be forced to tie amnesty to it. If the administration was serious about fulfilling the border security promises, then this funding should have been supported all along, not offered at the last minute to attract votes to a bad bill."
Last night, I posted about the consequences of the wrong action.
If you can, make sure to attend an anti-amnesty rally this weekend.
A few of us bloggers are meeting up tonight in the Techography Chat Room to plan our anti-amnesty fight. If you would like to join us, we'll see you there around 11pm (EST) tonight. If you can't make it to the chat room, drop me an email and I'll make sure to update you on our plans.
The great compromise was made behind closed doors, and now the identies of the fifteen Republicans who have most likely flipped their votes is being kept secret too. No matter. Kevin Ecker has phone numbers. Lots of them. If your senator is on the list, call them. Tell them you don't want this bill.
Better yet, the toll-free number funded by pro-amnesty forces is still up and running. You can call 1-800-417-7666 and ask to be connected to your Senators. This way, it won't cost you a dime.
Getting busy signals? Keep calling! Don't give up. The man who wins is the one who thinks he can.
Please, take a moment out of your day to contact your senators or send them a fax. Urge them to oppose this measure and support enforcing our current immigration laws. You should also contact the White House and tell the President that, as an American, you do, in fact, know what's right for America. Save your country now!
