First Earmarks, Now Perks.

It's bad enough Nancy Pelosi is attempting to hide earmarks until after legislation is passed, but now she wants us to pay for adult children to travel with her.

Pentagon officials are bracing for a fight with House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) over her desire to allow lawmakers’ adult children to tag along on taxpayer-funded travel for free.

Pelosi wants them to be able to fill the role of lawmakers’ spouses when the latter are unable to make a trip because of health issues or work commitments.

Pentagon officials say the policy is that the Treasury must be reimbursed at commercial rates for children who accompany members on such trips, often called codels.

When I travel for my job, I go alone, because the company I work for hired me to do the work, not my wife and certainly not my children. Why would they pay for the travel expenses of my wife or kids, just so I can do my job?

Nancy Pelosi is off her rocker if she thinks we should be paying for children to accompany lawmakers as they travel. Personally, I don't think we should be footing the bill for the spouses either. How screwed up is that?
