Amnesty Bill II: Daily Roundup For 06/14/2007
One out of every five American voters want Congress to try and pass the immigration reform bill. You do realize what the other four out of five want, don’t you?
Rich Lowry says this amnesty bill will actually head off any attempts at enforcement.
I figure, how do we know we really need “enhanced” security measures? We haven’t even tried the plain old vanilla security measures that have already been signed into law.
Michelle Malkin points out how clueless our lawmakers are as she welcomes us all to the deportation abyss. She also points out that Washington is serving waffles (and no, John Kerry is nowhere to be found).
Ann Coulter points out that the only people at the border who seem to get prosecuted are the Border Patrol Agents who try to do their jobs.
John Hawkins has the inside story on what’s happening with the immigration bill.
In other words, if the bill gets through the Senate and the House, the Democrats and the open borders Republicans will work together when the bills have to be reconciled in committee to strip out any amendments that the “grand bargainers” don’t like. Therefore, at this point, it doesn’t matter what amendments pass, because any tough enforcement provisions that slip through will be rendered toothless when the bills are reconciled.
If you missed it, I fisked the White House Immigration Fact Check.
Howard Fineman asks, “Do borders mean anything?”
Kevin Ecker says we’re being played for fools, and he’s right.
Our senators are working hard to revive the immigration bill, so it’s time for us to kick it up a notch and fight back louder and harder than ever.
Please, take a moment out of your day to contact your senators or send them a fax. Urge them to oppose this measure and support enforcing our current immigration laws. You should also contact the White House and tell the President that, as an American, you do, in fact, know what’s right for America.
