Amnesty Bill: Daily Roundup For 06/05/2007

When it comes to illegal immigration, some people just don't get it.

Kevin Ecker says we should stop feeding the animals.

Either someone was playing a joke, or someone in charge of Sen. Chambliss' weekly newsletters, unsubscribed me from their list yesterday afternoon. Out of nowhere, I got a message stating that I had "successfully unsubscribed". How rude. Of course, I immediately re-subscribed and received two, count them two, confirmations.

The Congressional Budget Office knows the Senate's Immigration Bill won't work.

The Senate's immigration bill will only reduce illegal immigration by about 25 percent a year, according to a new Congressional Budget Office report, Stephen Dinan will report Tuesday in The Washington Times.

And in a blow to President Bush's timetable, the CBO said the "triggers" — setting up the verification system, deploying 20,000 U.S. Border Patrol agents to duty and constructing hundreds of miles of fencing and vehicle barriers — won't be met until 2010.

Those triggers must be met before the temporary worker program could begin, and Mr. Bush had hoped to have them completed about the time he leaves office in January 2009.

An overwhelming number of Americans, who have an opinion on the Amnesty Bill, are opposed to it.

The video of the day (hat tip: Hot Air)

Polipundit wonders what his friend should do. Should she claim to be illegal so she can stay?

John Hawkins has the picture of the day. He has also prepared The Payback Project.

Joe from Techography has a link to Digger's Realm, who has an urgent request for help for a U.S. Border Patrol Agent.

The Senate is expected to take up amendments again today when it resumes debate on Senate Bill 1348. Proponents of this terrible piece of legislation hope to finish by the 7th or 8th. That's just a few days away people. Scary Harry (Reid) will call for a vote on a motion to proceed, a cloture vote. When he does, if the cloture vote passes or brave Senators (if there are any) do not filibuster, the Senate will make their final vote on the bill.

It is imperative that you contact your Senators today! Whether or not your Senator supports the Amnesty Bill, you can also contact Republican leader Mitch McConnell, at (202) 224-2541, the National Republican Senatorial Committee at (202) 675-6000, or the Republican National Committee (202) 863-8500 (option 1).

If making calls is not your think, make sure drop them an email, or visit NumbersUSA to send them a fax.

I have spoken to many people who think this bill is a done deal, which may or may not be the case. The only way we'll find out is if we speak out by http://www.senate.gov/general/contact_information/senators_cfm.cfm and voicing our opposition to this bill

We must do what we can to persuade enough Senators to change their votes.
