Supporting The Troops

Earlier this year, Soldier's Angels sent the word that our injured soldiers needed wool caps and blankets, so we took some time to put together a few packages and send them to the combat support hospital in Mosul, Iraq.
We traveled all over our area searching for wool caps, and we were able to acquire 30 of them. Gidget took inventory of her unused fleece collection, and the boys used fabric markers to create some pretty kewl squares for a couple of new quilts.
When all of the packages were put together, we had three very large boxes filled with the wool caps, more than a dozen blankets and a couple of quilts.
Soon after sending them, we received a nice thank you card from the troops staffing the combat support hospital in Mosul.
Today, our kids received an email from one of the soldiers at the hospital.
I just wanted to drop you a line and let you know the soldiers love the blankets you sent. You should see how happy they make them to get a little bit of home. Plus, it keeps them really warm at night. We sometimes keep it a little to cold in the hospital.
I also wanted to let you know that I got to feeling bad the other day and was seen in my hospital. I got really cold at about 2AM and found myself cuddled up in the blanket you sent. I want to thank you for that. I also want to thank you for your support of the troops here in Iraq. It means a lot to us.
Thanks again
Our kids really enjoy putting the packages together and adding their own special touch to each item we send. We plan on putting together another package of "essential items" in the coming weeks. If you would like to show your support for the troops, why not head over to the Soldier's Angels website and see what you can do.
