KFC To Display Acrylamide Warnings

Kentucky Fried Chicken will settle a state lawsuit filed in Los Angeles by warning California customers that its potatoes contain a suspected cancer-causing chemical.
K-F-C Corporation agreed yesterday to display warnings that its fried or baked potatoes contain acrylamide, which is created when chemicals in food react to high heat.
K-F-C was among about a dozen companies sued in 2005 for allegedly failing to heed Proposition 65, a voter-passed 1986 measure that requires businesses to post warnings about dangerous chemicals.
California has warnings for everything. If this happened in any other state I would be celebrating, because I think people need to know the potential dangers of acrylamide in our food.
How ironic. The state of California recognizes acrylamide as a suspected cancer-causing chemical, yet the FDA still won't even acknowledge that it may be dangerous let alone cancerous.

People do need to know about the potential dangers of acrylamide, and the foods that contain these. A friend of mine will be posting more information in the morning, as well as a link where those who are concerned can find the acrylamide content of most foods. Her site is http://www.wellnessandbeyond.typepad.com/ Thanks for raising awareness to this significant, but preventable, problem!
