Kitty Carlisle Hart, whose long career spanned Broadway, opera, television and film, including the classic Marx Brothers movie "A Night at the Opera," has died at age 96, her son said Wednesday.
Christopher Hart said his mother had been in and out of the hospital since contracting pneumonia over the Christmas holidays.
"She passed away peacefully" at home, said Hart. "She had such a wonderful life, and a great long run, it was a blessing."
Hart had appeared for years on the popular game show "To Tell the Truth" as a celebrity panelist.

The entertainment industry has lost one of the last remaining true actresses. Kitty Carlilse Hart was not only very talented, but was also a gracious, refined, professional, who was the epitomy of stardom and class. She is an irreplacible gem.

An absolutely fascinating woman to watch. She had an elegance beyond compare and yet never thought herself a great beauty. Ohhhh but she walked like a queen! Watch her come down the stairs on To Tell the Truth with her head held so regally, as if the Crown Jewels were there…never once did she so much as glance down at those steps! My mother made me walk with books on my head so I'd be as graceful as Kitty. Life was like that back then. I was supposed to grow up to be as charming as Arlene Francis and as elegant as Kitty Carlilse.
