Prince Harry will deploy to Iraq, the head of the British army said Monday, after speculation that he may be withdrawn from service because of fears he could be targeted by insurgents.

“I have taken the decision as chief of general staff. It’s my decision as chief of general staff. I have full command of everyone in the army, including Prince Harry,” said General Sir Richard Dannatt in a statement.

Again I ask, why would you tell the insurgents that he is coming? It’s no wonder we’re having a hard time over there. The next thing you know they’ll be providing GPS coordinates of his location.

Tommy Newsom, the former backup bandleader on “The Tonight Show” whose “Mr. Excitement” nickname was a running joke for Johnny Carson, has died. He was 78.

Newsom died of cancer at his Portsmouth home Saturday, according to his nephew, Jim Newsom.

Newsom, who played saxophone, joined “The Tonight Show” in 1962 and rose from band member to assistant music director. He retired along with Carson in 1992.

Rest In Peace, Tommy.

This may not be big news to most people, but “Studio 60 On The Sunset Strip” is returning May 24th. Apparently, it’s coming back for the final six episodes of the season. It probably won’t be coming back next season, but I’ll take what I can get.

A few months ago I mentioned (on Information Salad) that I was a fan of Aaron Sorkin and Tommy Schlamme and apparently the floor fell out of a few peoples lives, since they felt the need to email me and ramble on about the “politics” of watching a show like “Studio 60″. Little did I know that I could go to hell for watching such a show.

If I’m going to hell for putting politics aside for an hour here and there so I can enjoy a good show, then so be it. At least I will be entertained along the way.

And you thought you had to finish in the top three to become famous.

Former “American Idol” finalist Jessica Sierra was arrested early Sunday on felony battery charges for allegedly hitting a man on the head with a heavy glass at a cafe, police said.

Sierra, 21, was booked in the Hillsborough County Jail on a charge of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon. She was also charged with possession of cocaine and introduction of contraband into a correctional facility after officers found a small amount of the drug while searching her, police spokeswoman Andrea Davis said.

Sierra was released Sunday afternoon on $11,500 bail. There was no immediate indication if she had a lawyer.

The victim suffered a cut over his eye, but the spokeswoman gave no further information.

Sierra, of Tampa, was one of the hit show’s top 10 contestants in 2005.

When I re-arranged things and cleaned up the site yesterday, I contemplated removing the ads in the right side bar or replacing them with another program. I have yet to make one penny from the ads on the right side, but I thought I would give them a bit more time (I figured four months may not be enough time).

Then, this morning, when I checked my email, a regular reader of my site sent me this image, which came up when they attempted to click on a “free child safe kit” ad that appeared.

Well then, I guess I know why I haven’t been making anything from them now, huh? Needless to say, the affiliate programs in the right sidebar will be changing sometime today, that’s for sure.

James B. Davis Sr., who founded the gospel group the Dixie Hummingbirds, has died. He was 90.

Davis, of Philadelphia, died on April 17, the group said in a statement.

The Dixie Hummingbirds were introduced to a broader audience in 1973, when they collaborated with singer Paul Simon on “Loves Me (Like a Rock),” winning themselves a Grammy for their own rendition. They toured for many years afterward at churches and music festivals.

Davis’ survivors include five children, 19 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

His wife, the former Hortense Eddings, whom he married in 1937, died in 1993.

Rest In Peace, James.

I guess we’ll have to wait a few more days to find out whats going to happen…

Jeff Burton’s No. 31 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet will bear the familiar Cingular markings for at least two more weeks.

There was no decision Thursday on AT&T’s request for an injunction to have its logos placed on Burton’s car. Instead, U.S. District court judge Marvin H. Schoob listened to almost four hours of arguments from NASCAR, AT&T and Nextel and then set May 7 as the deadline for briefs to be submitted in the case.

I think this is ridiculous. Cingular was granted an exception by Nextel. Cingular is simply changing their name. They are still the same company. What’s the issue here?
