Anna Nicole Smith's death was due to an accidental drug overdose, Seminole Police Chief Charlie Tiger said Monday.
Dr. Joshua Perper, the medical examiner for Broward County, Fla., delayed releasing Smith's autopsy results because of additional evidence, still not publicly released, about what had left the model unresponsive Feb. 8 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood.
Meanwhile, a newly discovered photograph reportedly shows Smith, eight-months pregnant, with an infection on her leg. Sources told the Web site TMZ.com that it was caused by an injection.
The National Enquirer and Star magazine reported that Smith had a "raging blood infection," caused by an unsterilized needle, and that the infection "contributed to her death." The magazines say, however, that the direct cause of death was an overdose of sleeping medication.
Now if they would just finish the paternity tests for her baby, we could all get back to hearing real news, and Anna Nicole could finally rest in peace.
