That sure didn't take long, did it?
A Whitfield County jury handed Lynn Turner her second murder conviction in three years on Saturday, deciding in five hours that the former 911 operator poisoned the father of her two children with antifreeze, possibly slipped into a glass of sweet tea.
The same jury â€â€- which rejected defense attorneys' attempt to portray the victim, Forsyth County firefighter Randy Thompson, as a financially strapped pill-popper â€â€- must now decide if Turner will become the second woman in Georgia and one of about four dozen women in the country on death row. Testimony in the penalty phase of the trial is expected to start Monday.
The 38-year-old Cumming woman already is serving a life sentence for the 1995 murder of her husband, Glenn Turner, a police officer also killed with ethylene glycol, a sweet, odorless chemical found in antifreeze. She was convicted of that crime in 2004.
She's already serving a life sentence. I think they should just send her back to her cell with a nice cold glass of sweet tea. What do you think?
