And people still wonder why I stopped watching when Sundance Head went home…

In a surprise, Stephanie Edwards — one of this season’s best singers — was voted off the top-rated talent contest on Wednesday, while weak and sometimes unwatchable performers Sanjaya Malakar and Haley Scarnato were allowed to stay. The untimely departure of Edwards, 19, of Savannah, Ga., narrowed the number of “Idol” contestants to 10. The winner will be chosen in May.

It was obvious three weeks ago that the numbers were “off”.  Idol has become nothing but a joke, and it’s a shame, because Sundance, Brandon, and Stephanie all
deserved better.

I really liked American Idol, but now that it doesn’t matter if you can sing or not, what point is there in watching?  Can the producers come up with a way to fix it?  Do they even think it’s broken?  Who knows… I wouldn’t, since I haven’t watched it for the past two weeks now anyway.

I’ll just keep my eyes open at the end of the season when those who are actually talented get their recording contracts.

  1. We have not watched it at all this season. It just upset us too much every year to see those who truly deserved the title of American Idol – not only for their talent but also due to their character – be voted off. The voting system is a joke anyway. So we’ve decided to save ourselves the agravation and watch a DVD or something.

  2. Well, it is a voting problem. You have people who call in and vote like 200 times for the worst people. (SANJAYA!) Websites like Vote for the Worst.com advocate messing around with the voting system to see the bad singers get as far as they can.

I was really mad when Sundance left, but I am still watching because I am a big fan of Chris Sligh, Blake Lewis, Jordin Sparks, and Gina Glocksen. But I don’t think we should worry about Sundance. He’ll land on his feet.
