Test Pattern #25: What Is Acrylamide?

Should we be worried about Acrylamide?

Most people haven't even heard of it, so why should they be worried about it?

What is acrylamide? Acrylamide is a chemical compound that forms in foods as a byproduct of certain cooking methods, such as frying, grilling or baking — at relatively high temperatures. Acrylamide turns up in all kinds of tasty foods, including french fries, potato chips, breakfast cereals, cookies and crackers. But it's difficult for consumers to figure out how much acrylamide is in a particular meal or snack because food manufacturers are not required to report the amount of acrylamide in their products.

The theme music for Test Pattern is "Concerto for Violin and Orchestra No. 2 K211 (Rondeau_ Allegro)" by Shlomo Mintz from the album, "CD1 Mozart – The Violin Concertos". As usual, all of our music is courtesy of Magnatune.
