Congressman Charles Norwood Dies

Congressman Charles Norwood of Georgia died today after battling cancer and lung disease.
The 65-year-old Norwood died at his home in Augusta early this afternoon. The House interrupted debate on an Iraq war resolution for a moment of silence in his honor.
Norwood suffered from a chronic lung disease and later developed cancer that spread from his lung to his liver. He declined further treatment last week and returned home to Georgia to receive hospice care.

Norwood is survived by his wife; two sons, Charles and Carlton; and four grandchildren.
