1st Lt. Ehren Watada's court martial started this week. I haven't been following it too closely, but I have been keeping one eye on stories relating to the case.
Steve Yuhas has an excellent opinion piece on OpinionEditorials regarding Lt. Watada.
Watada will have a trial and his peers, volunteers of the American army, will find him guilty and they need to send a strong message to officers and troops who want to become the toast of left wing Hollywood and causes – send him to jail and strip him of his rank, but let him fulfill his confinement as a private in Iraq.
He sums it up best with the following line.
Watada is not a hero and he is not a martyr – he is a cowardly example of the worst of what the military has to offer.
Take a few moments out of your day to read the whole thing, it's definitely worth it.
